  1. Depends on the area.  Winter is great for lots of places like Venice & Florence, but not for the beaches & ski areas. Many cities have high seasons centered around events such as Venice's Carnivale, Siena's Palio, Easter time in Rome, as well.  I'd suggest you consult Fodors or check the prices of the hotels in the area you're interested in


  2. depends what is your interest, southern Italy for example JUNE and SEPT is considered off peak but the economical part generally consists only on rooms.  by the way  the beaches are beautiful.

    Hot and unpleasant, too, and everything is closed.

  4. In Winter except Venice for the famous Carneval,northern Ski resorts and Milan for the fashion weeks (Hotel's fully booked in advance). The rest is calm but dull...It would be a pity to visit beautyful Italy when it's not at it's best!
