  1. Well, maybe not in San Fran.  But closer than China.  2017.

I'm really looking forward to it.  The path of the shadow of the Moon is going to cut the United States in half.  So no matter where you live, it'll be at most a day's drive to get there.  And gas will only be $10 a gallon then - so if you car gets 49 MPG like mine does, it'll only be $100 each way.  And when you get there, you'll be able to see and feel the whole show.  See the shadow of the Moon race across the ground.  See the shadow bands.  Feel it get colder.  At totality, you'll see the Sun's corona. The wedding ring, and Bailey's Beads.  Way cool.  I forget which half of the country is going to fall into the ocean, but you'll be there and can pick the side that stays dry.

  2. There will be a total eclipse a short drive north of San Francisco on August 12, 2045, and an annular eclipse in the same location the following February 5.

    Good luck!

  3. Next lunar eclipse for the Western Hemisphere is August 16.

The next solar eclipse visible (maybe) in San Fransico US will be on October 14, 2023 and it will be an annular eclipse.

  4. The next solar eclipse visible in San Francisco will be the partial eclipse on May 20th 2012. The next lunar eclipse visible there will be the partial eclipse on June 26th 2010.
