When is the off-season for Nice, France or the French Riviera in general?

We would like to visit the area on our honeymoon and can only afford to go in the off- or shoulder-season. Since we need to plan our wedding date around this time period, it would be helpful to know when it is. :-)

  1. Most people go to the Riviera for the beaches. Is this why you want to go?

If so then going in Novermber will be a rather large disappointment as the average high temperature is 61 degrees farenheit, with the average low at 48 degrees farenheit. A bit too cold for swimming and sunning yourself.

If you're going to France for a honeymoon then go to Paris. Its worth going to at any time of the year.

  2. winter

  3. September to April.  There are a great many good offers with the French Tourist Board for the off season.  This is the website to look at.  http://www.decouverte-paca.fr/us/ Keep an eye on the section marked "good deals".  Some of them are irresistibly attractive.

  4. Hi from the Riviera !

The most peaceful month is November because you cannot ski in the mountains and you usually cannot go to swim in the sea either.

Most of the Riviera hotels close in November and some of them until mid December.

So November time is cheaper and not crowded (but often sunny).
