When is the paint safe?

I've just painted a dresser with latex paint. When is it safe to expose clothing and possibly a child to it?

Latex paint dries quickly.  Just wait overnight and fine for clothing and child.  I don't know if you primed the dresser but latex paint will chip off easily.  I'd protect it with a clear coat of polyurethane like Benjamin Moore's "Stays clear" product.  If very concerned about child chewing on it, ask Benjamin Moore dealer for green version.

read the directions and then I usually wait an extra day. I have found that keeping freshly painted objects in a well ventilated room and a couple of fans going speeds up the drying process.
