In the off season can one expect to get a hotel without a reservation, that is, I want to just change cities as I get bored and not make reservations anywhere, but I still want to be able to get a hotel, whenever I need one.

  1. I was there in January and went all over the Island Kingston to Negril to Montego bay to Ocho Rios No reservations anywhere and I had some really good rates at some really nice hotels.  Just  a FYI  as here in the states look at the room you will be renting before you committ to a price.

  2. Bob D hit it right on the head.  i would just add, stay away from negril in the entire month of march! unless you really like to party with the springbreak crowd and stay up all night in ur hotel!!  if you do, then you will be in springbreak heaven!  hotel rooms in the off season are no problem to just walk in, but you should maybe have a drink at the bar of a hotel and sit a little bit or conversate with someone staying there to see if it is up to your standards.

the weather is ok in off season, may and june can be a little rainy, but you can set ur watch by it and october & november can be rainy as well along with hurricane season, too.

  4. rainy...tropical storms...hurricanes etc.

  5. Ruke of thumb : Tourist season runs from Dec. 15th through April 15th...rest of that time airflights are cheaper, as are hotel rooms ( in some areas ). Regardless, you can ALWAYS find a place to stay, depends on how basic or fancy you require. You can pay $30 a night to $200, and walk-ins are common everywhere.

Make sure there are no events, concerts, parties, etc. in the town/city you want to visit though, the rates go up like they would anywhere...supply & demand.
