I just got two kittens today and I want to know when is the right time or appropriate age to trim your kittens nails? There are both three months old and I want to start so they can get in the habit that Mommy will be grooming them. Also I don't want to get them declawed so is there a good nail trimmer out there in the market that can give me similar results without given them pain. Thank you.

  1. you can start trimming your kitties claw from now ,do not delay it, it is better to do it every 10 days at the beginning so that they would live with it and knows is as a fact of life !! :)

always always provide them with the food they like the most after you finish or with treats they like.

the best time to do it also is when they are sleepy ( either falling to sleep or just woke up)

    how to do it ?

    Good luck

  2. have you watched commercial lately?! the pet nail filer does not injure the pet and is easy to use! it is like giving you pet a pedicure!!!

    BLAH BLAH BLAH!

    yeah look for that commercial!

  3. you can trim your cats nails as soon as theyre getting long enough to be trimmed- its pretty easy

you can use regular people nail trimmers, all you have to do is lightly squeeze the cats paw and the nails will come out. The nails should be clear- so its easy to see where the blood vessels travel down the nail (its the pink bit) all you have to do it clip the end of the nail below the area with the blood vessel and youre done.

Its good that you want to start practising this early- it means the cats nails should be much easier to trim later on in thir life.

  4. I have education on this particular subject as for my mother works in a grooming salon. The cat does not need to be a certain age but they should be at least 1-2 months old because cats nails grow surprisingly fast.

You should look for the quick[blood vessel] in the nail and you have to make sure you cut the nail about a 8th of an inch apart from the quick as to not make it bleed. If it bleeds due to cutting it too short get a dry towel, and hold it where the nail is bleeding for about 25-30 seconds.

If it continues to bleed hold the towel there and go get a gauze pad and something to hold the gauze on the paw and fit them onto the paw so it is easy to remove about 5 minutes later.

Although if you have any Nik-Stop, you can apply a little bit of the powder onto the tip of the nail where it is bleeding and the powder should be gone by the next day but it is ok if it is not gone the next day.

~Hope This Helps! Good luck with your new kittys!

  5. u can get nail clippers, like human ones, except they look like scissors and don't hurt them

they cut off a bit of the end of the nail to make it so it isn't sharp

they can be started at any age

we breed persians and we start at about 2 moths, when we start brushing them so that they r use to it wen they go 2 their new homes

note: they need to be done regularly, because they sharpen they claws on scratching posts etc.

also b careful to not to chop 2 much off as this can make them bleed

i have also heard of stick on nails for cats that r soft and that way they can't damage anything with their claws

sum1 else mite no more cos im not familular wif dem
