there are a few factors to take into account.

1.  can you afford it.

2.  especially if there are children involved, have you exhausted all other avenues to "fix" the relationship.

3.  when you divorce, what was the income for one household becomes the income for two households, are you prepared for the potentially significant drop in lifestyle.

one thing that does override all of this, if you are being abused then it is the right time to divorce.
