When is the start of the school year in Taiwan?

Three-year-old for kindergarten.

Seven-year-old for elementary school.

Usually September 1st, however, some students, like the third year in middle school, would only have 2 week summer break due to tests coming up the last year they spend in middle school.  Because of these tests, the teachers feel it necessary to give supplementary classes that review test topics.
