When is thunder storms and lighting dangerous

i want my 8 yr old grandson to know when thunder and lighting is dangerous because he is very scared just to know that it is going to rain, i've explained to him that there is no reason for him to be scared that it is only dangerous when people hide under a tree, i've told him very thing that you can think of and he is still scared, please help me make him understand. i will have him read the answers

Lightning is always danger, no matter where you are. There are things you can do to really lower the chances of being hit by lightning, whether it be direct or indirect.

First, do not use take a shower or bath during a thunderstorm. Lightning travels through the metal pipes, and the water will conduct the electric current as well. Second, stay indoors and away from windows. Third, do not use electronic devices that are plugged into some kind of an outlet.

Following those guidelines will prevent any unnecessary risks of injury or death due to lightning.
