When is violence acceptable?

What if someone provokes you/insults you..can you beat them up?

Violence gets you know where. And it doesn't make you a better person or even a stronger person. And who knows it could turn out and he/she could get the p**p kicked out of you

Not in the USA.  The physically threat must be IMMEDIATE, or else you can (and probably will) be charged.
