  1. Yeah I've been there before a couple of times. I have family out there so it is quite enjoyable. I like the beaches and water parks that they have out there. I haven't been there in a couple of years, who knows if I would go with the family again- if school is not in my way!

  2. I go because i have family there, but honestly if you don't know English or don't know your way around it can get pretty ugly.  I believe it to be very beautiful but other may beg to differ.

  3. I have visited El Salvador, for the first time in 1992. My husband is from there, I am from Ohio. I would visit there, and I would recommend visiting there if you learn a little about the place first. San Salvador resembled the U.S., where as many other parts of the country are still very 3rd world, people live on mountains where you can only get there by foot, and the only running water is a pipe in the center of the village. Expect to be in awe of the valcanoes and ocean view, the outdoor market places, the historical cities, and the beautiful , wonderful, kind people. But, there is so much crime, please be indoors before night fall. There is a lot of drugs and gang activity, the 13th street gang, marasalvatrucha. I would recommend staying on the beaten path unless you have a person more familiar with a certain area to go with you. Besides that though, the food is so good, the weather is best in the dry season, Christmas and New Year's are the best time to go, book a flight early. The whole country has fireworks at Christmas and carnivals, any Salvadoran will tell you that's the best time to go. More people speak English than you would expect, it's required all the way through school, also from what I experienced the whole time I was there is that American influence is there and most people love Americans. There is so much to do and see, especially if you love to shop like me.  I hope you go. I have been giving presentations about El Salvador for 10 years in public schools, churches, community centers and libraries. Also, the public libraries and book stores have so many good books about El Salvador.

  4. To be honest with you, if you had a choice and were under time restrictions, I would not visit El Salvador over other countries in Central America. Two reasons, one is El Salvador has a serious crime problem that is not just limited to the city of  San Salvador.  You can encounter crime in almost every population center in the country.  Two,  El Salvador has a horrible track record on the environment and critical deforestation, which makes the country a less attractive venue.  El Salvador does have some site specific strengths, if you like surfing, very good for that.  But, otherwise, some of the other countries have a lot  more to offer.

My first choice would be Guatemala.  It has a more developed tourism industry focused in three areas.   Antigua, Tikal, and Lake Attilan.  All of these areas are superior to El Salvador in experiencing the unique flavor of Central America.   I would  also recommend Nicaragua and Costa Rica as countries to visit over El Salvador.

I  know  I am upsetting a few people with this answer, but I  have lived in this region for quite a while and feel I can give a fairly objective answer.

  5. Oh yes, it is a very wondrous place, Costa del Sol is my favorite beach, the sand is a shiny dark gray color, the malls are better  than here, such as La Gran Via, galerias, Plaza Mundo, and more.  But the only thing is that El Salvador is a dangerous place, depending on which parts you are visiting, and it would be a great idea to know spanish.  Only go Tourism Places those are the safest.  You can go to Wikipedia.org and search El salvador to learn more.

  6. I visit El Salvador every chance I get.

From Armenia to Santa Tecla, to San Miguel (El Carnanval!) to Panchimalco, to Izalco to Acajutla to Rio Lempa and everything in between!

The beaches are incredible and the people are the best in the world.
