Question:

When it comes to twins, do you like matching names or different names?

Personally, I like twins with totally different names better.

After the kids are 7 or 8, names like "Don & Dan" and "Layla and Bayla" kind of lose their cuteness.

  1. Totally different. they may be twins but they are totally different people.

  2. Totally different. I think "matching" names, like Sharlene and Darlene, are tacky and corny!

  3. I personally don't like it, but most twins I know really don't seem to mind... Twins tend to be really close anyway, from my experience.

  4. Yes it's cute, but not as popular as you might think now. I think that just because the were born together, doesn't mean they have to practically be called the same name.

  5. i like matching names but not too matchy.

    i dont like rhyming names

or names with only one letter difference like dan & don

  6. I like it if the names at least start with the same letter.  I also like names like:

Caroline Rebecca and her twin sister Rebecca Caroline

  7. Matching names scare me. Its like they share the same body..lol..i like names that start with the same letter but are totally different, it kinda represents a cool twin vibe.

  8. Different names, if you really want to do matching/ rhyming names I think they should be reserved for the middle name spot.

  9. My bestfriend is pregnant with twin girls, she's only at 28 weeks right now, they put her in the hospital because she has a rare set of twins, they are called "Monomono". Her doctor told her it will be a blessing if they even end up with one of the babies, which is very sad. But anyway, she plans to name them Isabelle and Danyelle.

I know a lot of different sets of twins with names that don't rhyme but some start with the same letter, some don't:

Chadwick Alan (Chad) and Christopher David (Chris) - their dad's name is David Alan...

Thomas Luverne (Tom now but we called him Tommy back in highschool and when we were growing up) and Andrew Ronald (Andy).

Derek Thomas and Dalton Andrew - the little twin brothers of Tom and Andy (see above).

Joshua Caleb Wesley (Josh ) and Jasmine Erica Nicole - both have 2 middle names.

    Alex and Andrew

    Leslie and Laura

and I know TONS more sets of twins...

I like it when they aren't rhyming as well... but I don't mind the same letter thing.

    If I ever had twins:

Boys:  Easton Matthew and Elijah Olson (what I'm gonna use for boy names even if they aren't twins)

Girls: I really have no idea haha and not nessarily starting with E's either...

Boy/Girl: Probably either Easton or Elijah with the same middle names and still no idea for the girl.

  10. i like twins with totally different names

if i had twin girls, i would name them

    alessandra and natalia

but their middle names would be similiar to the other twins name

(e.i. alessandra valeria and natalia alejandra)

    and for boys it'd be

    adam and brett

    :D

  11. im a twin and my name is Andrianna, and my twin sis is vanessa

we hav totally different  names which i like because it gives me and my sis r totall oposites

  12. I think its cute when they have the same middle name, no one sees it anyway :) Like Bailey Lynn and Abigail Lynn. Also, my favorite is ABC names for triplets. I know a set of triplets name Abigail, Brooke, and Caitlin.

  13. not tottaly diffrent but the whole rhyming first name thing is going way too far, but i think rhyming middle names is cute. if i had twins i would name them:

    Girls:

Zoey Elle & Maci Belle or Maci Belle & Molli Grace

    Boys:

Brooks Alexzander & James Kelly (Jamie) or Declan James & Deacon Kelly

    Girl/Boy:

Ellison Blaire (Ellie) & James Kelly (Jamie) or Alaina Grace & Alexzander James (Alex)

  14. Sometimes both ways, because the children are almost in the same in name, birth, time of birth, but then they diff because they are one of a kind person and that's the way it should be;your twins will always have an connection to each other and their parents, but that's how God intended for them to be connected to one another, but a completely different soul, mind, body, thoughts, personality, the name I think is special in the fact, that when we were born our parents gave us our special name( however somewhere in this big world someone else may have our name, but that's as far as it goes), because we are [one of a kind person]! No one else has our feelings, likes, dislikes, personality, humor, [everything that makes us"US"].So, you see twins are only alike that they were born together, but then their personalities emerge. To who they are going to be! We are born with our name, we grow up with it, it changes as we grow up, to adult names, then we die with it, but nowhere in this world does anybody have what I have, even if their name is the same as mine!We are all the same in God's eyes, but different and unique,& special in His eyes  too!

  15. Definitely like totally different names. I don't like the rhyming thing and I don't think that many people like it that way anymore. As a society, we are really pushing for individuality and so when they rhyme or are close together in sound, it makes them seem the same. I'm not opposed to the names having the same first letter though. But I would probably name them on totally different ends of the spectrum! Like Jack and Michael or Antonia and Lilly.

  16. I don't like matchy names. I think switching their first two initials or going with a theme (like biblical names, names ending with A, etc.) are cute.

Initials: Adam Leonardo & Luke Anthony (AL & LA)

Theme: Sophia & Amelia (Both ending with A)

I think matchy names with the same initials are not cute at all!

    ~Julie

  17. matching names i think are kinda corny like kyle and kyla or something, but i like the idea of opposites... something like sky and ocean or sky and day

  18. i agree with you!

i have identical twin girls and it is hard enough for people to try and tell them apart by looks but it would be even worse if they had names like Layla and Tayla or Savannah and Briannah!

we named them Monique and Nicola (Moni and Nikki)

    :)

BTW I know a set of twins named Savannah and Briannah and they hate it and a set of twins named Felicity and Jennifer and they love it!

  19. I hate rhyming names, but I do like it when twins have the same first letter in their name, like Ashley and Andrea. If I ever had twins, that's what I would do. But rhyming names like those are just stupid.

  20. I do too but not just any two "go together" just like siblings should kind of go, so should twin siblings, but there are no rules to that, it just needs to sound right, I think Etta and Brittany (Bree) go well together but they are two completely different names.  I like Brandy and Brittany too, they are so different but have the same first two letters.  I also like Bobbie-Jo and Marylou and Paulina and Kathleen or Noreen, or even Cordelia and Delphine, Avalee and Isabel so yeah they kind of do have to subtly match.

  21. I agree. I'm a twin, and people often asked why my mum didn't call me christina as my twin brother is called christopher. My mum always said that I am my own person, not half of a double act. I thought that was rather cool.

  22. i think it depends, identical twins, its cute to start with  same letter, but as you said the other things loose the cuteness.

Names like Lola, and luke are cute htough, cause there different but start with an L,

    or Emily and eric,

    or Matt, and Mary,

    or Brian and Blair

    xx

  23. Haha. I like different names. You're right, they do lose their cuteness. It's just not that  cute to have matching names, especially in high school. =]

    good question. Here's a star =]

  24. i totally agree with you i have best friends who are twins and they love being their own people and being themselves, they hate being called twins and being compared to each other. so yh i agree with you.

  25. I have to say that matching names with twins annoy me. B/B, G/G or B/G, people always tend to match their twins names. Like you said, it loses the cuteness factor, and the kids are different people. They'll be in high school, and people won't view them as separate people- they will be Don and Dan, Layla and Bayla, [to use your examples] Even if the kids are totally different, they will never be viewed as individuals.

  26. TOTALLY DIFFERENT, please! haha

I think it's so ridiculously cutesy when people pick names like Kaila and Laila. They might be twins but they're still completely different babies. It's not even that creative.

  27. It depends on what kind of matching names they are i cant stand rhyming ones but i like the following for:

    Girls:

    Alyx & Mady

    Karsyn & Kylie

    Shailyn & Shailia

    Jadalyn & Amberlyn

    Maddie Sophia & Shailyn Makenzi

    Britt & Maddie

    Austyn & Noah

    Baylee & Sayler

    Boys:

    Brayden & Blaise

    Blaise & Paxton

    Hayden & Grayson

    Avery James & Jayden Alexander

    Izak & Liam

    Noah & Koen

    Boys & Girls

    Kyleigh & Kendall

    Payton & Paxton

    Baylee & Hayden

    Avery Samuel & Shailyn Alexis

  28. I don't like matching names. I don't even think they're cute when they're young. I mean, twins or not, they're still separate people. I'd feel so uncreative if i were to name two of my children matching names.

  29. Rhyming names I can't deal with. (i.e. Hayley and Bayley)

Same letter I guess is okay as long as they're very different names. (i.e. Adrienne and Amanda)

I prefer very different names (i.e. Naomi and Leanna)

    :]

  30. I like twins names to not rhyme in there full form, but do rhyme in there shortened form, like Phillip and Lillian - Phil and Lil...  (I know - a little too "Rugrats")  but there are other ones too.  umm.... cant think of any right now though..

  31. I don't think matching names are THAT horrible

but i defiantly wouldn't want to have a matching name as someone else

i would want my kids to be their own persons

they may have the same dna, but that doesn't mean they are the same
