Can a smaller guy beat up a bigger guy.

I'm 5'8" 165 and I want to beat up this 5'10" 190 pound guy. Before I start training, I just want to make sure that this is possible.

I know a smaller guy like me couldn't beat up one of those big WWE guys but can a smaller guy beat up a guy who is not that much bigger. Like about 40-50 pounds more.

Is fighting more about technique than it is size. I've never been in a one on one fight before because my friends usually have my back. But this time, I gotta do this on my own.

  1. Martial Arts is for self-defense only.  Don't attack him unless he attacks you.  Even if he taunts you, don't do it.

If he does attack you, remember: vital points, vital points, vital points.

  2. When it come down to it the winner is the one who is able NOT to throw and walk away!

Sure smaller can take larger just as larger can take smaller as well, each have their strengths and weaknesses.

Fighting is about BRAINS and WITS with technique. The smarter fighter can usually beat a superior fighter most times.

  3. im an ametuer boxer for my regional team and the best advice i can give is to never duck your head down.  keep your head covered and u should be cool.  if he locks up with u take body shots.  trust me it works.  only throw when ur sure you can land a punch.  good luck man =)

  4. Yes a smaller guy can take down a bigger guy especially if it's just a street fight. I can't express this anymore, you have to punch straight. Many street fights people do these little looping downward punches much like a girl. When you punch straight and orthodoxed you knock b*tches out.  If you are going to fight him, like forsure, get the first shot in. There is no fair fighting, in street fighting.

If you want perfect form in fighting nothing does better then this fight clip:

  5. Being determined to win regardless, it not all about power, speed ,fitness, ability although having these attributes certainly help.

But ultimately the man who wins is the man who refuses to be beaten and believes he can win.

But that's just my own experience and opinion.

Ps: I'm 5ft 8" and at my peak was 10st and beat many people 6ft plus and 15st plus ,I'm not boasting but stating fact :)***

  6. If its a street fight its all about who hits first and who swings the most. Most of the time conditioning isn't a factor because the fight won't last longer than 2 minutes MAX. Whoever hits first will most likely win because after that it will most likely turn into a wrestling match, because whoever caught that first punch won't want to get hit in the face like that again. Since he's got 25lbs on  ya I'd say you need to hit first, and don't try to wrestle him he's bigger than you. It'll prolly be broken up after a couple punches anyway, and the first one will land and thats what everyone will remember. If you really wanna show him who's tougher, go to a local gym where there can be a paramedic and some protective equipment. I don't condone fighting dirty unless your outnumbered or blindsighted, but you never know how he will fight. As far as training he's not that much taller than you he shouldn't have much more of a reach. Learn to throw a punch the correct way, cuz you can hurt yourself worse than the receiver if you don't know what you're doing. Strengthen up those wrists hit a bag if ya don't have one do pushups with your hands in a fist. Good luck be safe, and update if ya can.

  7. try and hit him when he isnt lookin itll take the fight right out of him. and dont stop

  8. Preparation is a huge part of it.   Physical ability is another key aspect that is important.  Yeah, the better the fighter the more size he can give up.  It doesn't sound like you're in a position to do all of the preparation you'll need to do to be a great fighter, so your chances of getting hurt are very high.  Try to avoid the conflict.

I think a small fighter could do a number to a big TV Wrestler.  Guys your size like BJ Penn or Cung Le  - or even old guys like Sugar Ray Leonard or Gene Lebell could put down a big TV Wrestler that could probably lift twice as much weight as they could.  I was changing channels and accidentally saw some TV wrestling.  I had to change the channel fast to keep my IQ from dropping, but I did see enough to see this old excon looking guy in a green slim jim throwing a midget with a Lucky Charms hat at some other wrestler.  Some how I don't think you'll learn that move at any legitimate dojo.

  9. i would suggest putting questions like these in the drama or wrestling section.

First off, no respectable martial artist is gonna give you real advice...

Second off, to think to even ask a question about a smaller person taking a bigger one is ridiculous...unless your from a place where the bullies just run the town...

Third...im glad to hear that your buddies had your back and would help you with your problems in the past...you have never been in a fight for a reason...because fighting should be about protecting yourself, not about your boys getting your back...

  10. sorry but joining martial arts to beat someone up will get you no where.
