I HATE HATE HATE the color I just painted my bathroom, and plan on getting another gallon of something tomorrow. But this masking tape I used to tape off the ceiling says it should be removed in 4 hours. Think it can stay on overnight and still come off okay? The ceiling was painted over a week ago, so I'd say that paint was cured (that's the paint that the masking tape is currently adhered to).

  1. It can stay on overnight.  That shouldn't be a problem.

  2. Should be OK, no guaranty. Should use blue color painters tape. If it   starts to stick you can heat adhesive with hair dryer, also when you pull from wall do not pull tape straight out, simply pull back over tape, you are pulling tape over itself. 30 years painter. 3. The reason it says 4 hours is that the paint will flake off adjacent areas with the tape once when it is dry and you won't get a sharp edge.  Check the paint can re-coat time to get an idea of how long you really have.

  4. It should be fine.  When you take the tape off after the new color if you have any sticky spots, just take a new peice of tape and "dab" the sticky spot untill it all comes off.  The best thing to stick to an adhesive is it'self.  If you have an older home, you may have a little of the trim finish come with the tape, but generally it's just the clear coat, and a pint of polyeurothane isn't overly expensive.
