As far as civilization goes, it will be stupidly and foolishly.  Something that anyone who survived would say "why did they do that, couldn't they see it coming"

I think the end has already begun.. gradually it's getting worse and  worse..and if you read the bible it tells you what's going to happen, and you can see it already started.

The Mayans believe that the poles would switch positions and because they would switch so fast it would cause earthquakes, floods, and disaster. The Mayans were very accurate and believed that when something happens, it would always happen again. In fact they had a calender, including 5 cycles. And the at the end of every cycle there would be something terrible that would happen. The end of the last cycle is 12-21-12. Therefore, people think its the end of the world. I don't believe that it is true, but a lot of people seem to. The only person who knows when the end of the world is God.
