  1. its like anything as long as you keep practising and never give up you have good days and bad days learning to drive, take it from me ** fails and now passed the freedom is wonderful good luck didn't want to put how many fails, don't want to put you off lol

  2. its all hard at first, like anything in life really, thats why you are learning...dont be embarrassed to ask your instructed for any help if you struggle, afterall you are paying him/her. after a while it will all begin to fall into place, you'll see

  3. that was the one thing i always worried about when learning to drive but dont worry yourself cos it will all come naturally and your instructor will talk you through it all and will tell you when u should change gear for your first few lessons, good luck

  4. i was a natural at 12 yo, although its not that easy for alot of people

  5. well of course, the whole thing is hard until you learn how to do it!!

just listen, stick at it, and youll get it - dont be scared of asking your instructor anything x

  6. its best to learn to drive for the first time in an automatic so that you pay more attention to handling characteristincs and watching the road and your mirrors and such...but mostly what expericed drivers go by is ear..listen to your engine..the higher the whine you need to change gears sooner...and along with that glancing at your R.P.M. (revolutions per minute) guage

  7. No, clutch control is most difficult

    general rules:

its simple really, to get 1st gear push to the left an up, 2nd is left and down, 3rd just straight forward and 4th straight back, 5th being right and up. - your instructor will teach you a hand grip which will ensure you can't go wrong - mine did.

    also, basics:

Start in 1st, work your way up through the gears as you increase in speed - you will hear the engine becoming louder, and this is the time to change up.

higher gears also aren't always best, keep to lower gears for hill climbing, hill descent and for when you need to accelerate fast (2nd and 3rd are best for this kind of thing)

  8. It's hard at first, but the more you practice the better you will get.

  9. It is not the gears that are the problem, it's the clutch and its control.

Try it out and if you can't get a handle on it go for automatic transmission.

It will restrict your choice when you have passed your test, but it's soooo much easier as there is no clutch.

  10. no if the engine is straining it needs to go up a gear and if its chugging then it needs to go down a gear if you have any problems just ask parents family friends or look it up on google if any more problems email me thanks hope it helps i was like you when i was learning to drive a car

  11. It depends on the person.

It was easy for me my first time.

    But it just depends.

  12. When growing up as a kid, how hard was it to tie your shoe laces, or if you're a bloke, tie a tie. How long did it take for you to learn to whistle?  Right, well if you start practising driving and listening/watching your instructor using the gears and the clutch  then it will start to get easier.  Some people can find it very hard to use the clutch and gears. I had one pupil who was a biker.  Rode his bike everywhere, but he wanted to drive a car.  Now as I've never driven a bike and don't intend to at my age I don't understand the clutch system on bikes, he couldn't get the hang of " bringing the clutch up S L O W L Y . Every time it was get it into gear and clutch straight up.....   the car would either jump and you felt it with the whiplash effect  or the wheels would screech.

He did eventually manage the whole clutch/gear and finally passed after 18 months of car instruction.

Another pupil had no idea what  the clutch and gears did.... puts oil into the ashtray or something.... she eventually was told to go to automatic and she passed first time.

Just remember, when you control that clutch your ready for a test.  Don't let the clutch control YOU....

    GOOD LUCK
