i always ask people like family and friends, theres a good chance that this person will come highly recommended, by hubby is a builder and all his work comes via word of mouth!

Definitely go for a recommendation, otherwise you may end up getting overcharged for dodgy workmanship!

Recommendation is usually best, although it once didn't work for me when I got shoddy work by someone who came highly recommended.

Otherwise I use Checkatrade, a internet site that listed companys/tradespeople who have been recommended by member of the public. It is genuine I found an excellent sparky through them
