When looking to buy a speed bag, how much do they usually cost?

I was looking on line for a speedbag and found one for 30 dollars. the only problem was, there was nothing pictured to hang it from. does that come with the bag? or is it a separate product?

That sounds like the cost for a bag only. You will need to purchase a frame for the bag and a swivel to attach the bag to the frame. You can buy frames with swivels attached and you can buy complete sets (bag, swivel, frame). A decent complete set wil cost at least $100USD.

Size of the bag should also be considered, if you are just starting out go for a larger bag (14inch) as this won't move as fast and will be easier to hit. As your skill increases you can upgrade to a 10inch bag which moves a lot faster.

Try and stick with a quality brand bag and well made board and swivel. Remember buy cheap, buy twice.

If you're handy you could probably make your own frame.
