When my baby is born in December, will I be eligible for a Child Tax Credit for 2008?

Just wondering how that works since the baby will only be about a month old when it's time to file taxes.

  1. Yes. As long as the baby is born within that year before you file I believe you can file that child. The child was an expense before it is born so that is all included.

It works the same as if you were getting married- so long as you are married before the end of the year you can filed jointly as a married couple.

  4. doesn't matter when in the yr the child is born as long as it is born before midnight on 12/31, you can claim the child for the whole yr. My son is a 12/29 kid and they said (IRS) that it counts for the whole yr.
