When my ipod connects it cant be detected

when i connect my ipod to the computer it says that the ipod cannot be detected. im not able to restore it because it will not show up at all. PLEASE HELP. it is a 1st gen ipod video white

  1. just reset it press menu and the center buttons at the same time until the apple appears.  Make sure your ipod is not connected to the computer when you do this


  2. the happen to me have you download that appropriate software?
