  1. i dont know what country your from but i know that in australia u can revert back to ur maiden name without any charge an in ur case it would also depend on ur age as to whether u could do it ring ur local births deaths and marriages office an they will be able to give u the information u need

  2. hi sweety,..talk to mom,..sure she'l understand and sort everything for you,..if your old enought there is some sort of organasation you can call like (family court),.. good luck!

  3. My daughter went by her step father's last name. But it is not legal.  She later graduated and it had to be under her real name. If you didn't legally change it then just go back to the other name.

  4. ummm i would say go to court

    hope this helps

  5. This is something you'll have to wait until you are 18 to change if your step father legally adopted you ,,,,  Actually this situation is sort of a puzzle really ,,,, I can't see that it would make too much difference it you chose to use your real name instead of your adopted name if you want to ,,,,  I believe this is something your mother should have talked to you about before actually doing it ,,,,It seems as though she wants to rid herself of anything she had to do with your father ,,,, This does not mean you have to do the same thing ,,,,  This could cause some legal complications later on but nothing you couldn't straighten out ,,,, Regardless of legalities I think you have a right to go by the name you chose and not the one chosen for you ,,,, This is something you need to talk to your mother about and possibly a neutral party such as a school counselor or some one of that nature ,,,, If it were me in your position I would continue with the name you want to go by ,,,, I feel that this is a right or option you should be allowed to exercise ,,,, Luck to you on this ,,,, Stick to your guns ,,,, //

  6. You are allowed to call yourself whatever you like. You just need to tell everyone that from now on, you wish to be known as xxxx. However, if you want to change your name formally, and use that name for all legal purposes, you can do it by deed poll. Any solicitor can tell you how to do this. Go to a community legal centre.

  7. I was unaware that the surname i was using was not my real surname. I used my step fathers surname since i was 3 until i was 16. At 16 i contacted my real father and i asked him to sign me over to my step dad. To get my licnese i had to use what was on my birth certicate and it was the only thing that had that name. My mum took me to a local court and asked and was told the only way i could change it legally was to get my real father to sign me over to my step father and as he refused i had to change everything else... If it has not been done legally its easy but if it hasn't i'd say you may need to wait until your 18.

    Hope this hepls.

  8. Hi Matt...

Unless your mother went to court and had your last name legally changed (which involves filing papers with the court and paying to have the name change), you still have your old last name.

She would also have to change your name with social security.

If she did not go through the court to change your last name, but just decided one day that you should have your step dad's last name, LEGALLY your last name is still the one you were born with.

  9. if you're over 18, you can change your name the way you want at the Birth and Marriage Registry of your state. if you're underage, you still can but will need your mum's consent.
