  1. Dogs that immediately urinate on people who enter are showing signs of dominance/hierarchy.   When dogs urinate on things (even inanimate objects) they are showing signs of ownership/dominance.  When they urinate out of excitement, they are often showing submission. Does she roll onto her back too?

The best way to at least begin dealing with this is to make sure that people pay no attention to the dog while she is excitable.  She will gradually outgrow the behaviour as she grows older and gains confidence.

    Good luck.

  2. my late Annie (my doggie that passed away yesterday) when she was a puppy she used to do that. It's their excitement and happiness to see you that makes them to that.

  3. She gets excited and cant control herself, also, she could be being submisive. She will grow out of it, its usualy a puppy thing

    Jane.

  4. Two reasons I can think of.

1- she *might* have something wrong with her bladder. You might want to phone your Veterinarian.

2- She's urinating because she's excited about meeting new people :) Some dogs, especially puppies, will do that. Mostly because when they get so excited it's harder for some dogs to control their bladder.

My dog had that problem, we just distracted him with toys or biscuits to get him to stop. It was easy, really, it just took some patience and training ;D Alternatively you could request that these people don't stop to fuss about your dog and just ignore her completely.

    Good luck.

  5. She's excited. Tell whoever she's greeting to ignore her until she's completely calm, then pet her.

  6. she is just excited. dont worry most dogs grow out of it. my dog actually peed on me for a long time. he finally broke the habit when we had him outside more and around people. she is still young though. dogs really dont mature fully until they are a year old or more.

  7. Our golden still does that.  She's just so daggone loving that she'll pee if you go out to take out the trash.

I've noticed that she really does it less if you turn aside from her.  If you greet her face to face, she'll even try to jump up on you.  She knows not to, but she can't control her excitement. So by turning sideways so you're not face-to-face, she doesn't wet as often.

I also make sure to let her out before we have company, 'cuz that's when she really gets crazy.

  8. Its through excitement. Basically she is getting so excited about meeting someone that she wets herself. The key to breaking this habit is to encourage people to ignore her when they meet you until she calms down. It sounds like she might be a jumper too, but the same principal applies. Ignore her completely until she is calm and behaving.

  9. It's a submissive thing.  Probably went on in the wild when the pack met up - the 'lesser ones' urinated.  The suggestion about people being encouraged just to ignore her should help sort this out.  You might try contacting a behaviourist for advice if this is really a serious nuisance (and it can be in the house!).  Otherwise hopefully she will grow out of this.  I had a male puppy who did this, but I seem to think it didn't last for long as he matured and became more sure of himself (plus the puppy attraction, for strangers, wore off and they sadly ignored him!)
