  1. yes, all syntheic industiral matierals will eventaully leech chemicals, tires are no excpetion. however the amount abd type of chemical varies depending on the matireal. rubber is a natural product that has been refined. i would imagine it is safer than some of the alternatives


  2. Not enough to matter.  The break down and leaching will occur so slowly that the effect should be negligible.

  3. Tires that are left in contact with the earth will break down faster than those suspended in the play grounds.

  4. No more than the tire being on a car in the driveway.

    If the tire is burned, than any toxics that might leach from it are also burned.  If the tire is used any other way, or buried, than there is a possibility of some leaching.

    It's negligible, though.  Fertilizers and other landscaping chemicals will generate far more leachate.
