When on birth control do you start taking it the day you START your period, or the sunday after it is over?

i usually take it but i got all messed up last month so i quit taking it all together until this month..and i started my period today and dont remember if i start taking it tomorrow or until the sunday after my period has ended

  1. You don't take the regular pills the day you start your period. That's what the placebo pills in the pack are for. Then on Sunday after your period, start taking the regular pills.


  2. i took it the day i started. but you cant take it the sunday of your period

    either one works

  3. You can start with the first pill of the packet that has today's day on it, it just means that you'll have some pills leftover when you get to the end of the placebo pills and start a new pack.  You can save the pills for if you're a bit late renewing your prescription.

    Or you can start on the first Sunday after the start of your period.  Either way is fine.  You're protected sooner if you don't wait.
