  1. Smoking in enclosed public places will be banned in England from 1 July next year.

The ban covers virtually all enclosed public places including offices, factories, pubs and bars, but not outdoors or in private homes.

  2. summer 2007

  3. The Peoples Republic of California did years ago, and the Brits now follow rather than lead. Though they seem to drag their heels.

I hope they drag them really deep on all such subjects ranging from smoking to adoption of the Euro to accepting France as the King. Brits need to get their pluckiness back.

You don't like an establishments policy? Go elsewhere or make your own restaurant that caters to non-smokers. You'll do fine. Me, I'll take freedom of choice. Government edicts bug me more than second-hand smoke, and I guarantee you it's led to more deaths. Ask King George III.
