  1. This diagnosis is generally made in childhood, and the parents are told.  They will decide how to present the matter to the child.

    If somebody doesn't find out until adulthood,. I imagine the doctor will tell the person, if able to understand; as well as any caretakers.

    I understand that school personnel sometimes make a "diagnosis," but they are not physicians or psychologists, and so the diagnosis is unofficial.
