When ordering a Cheesesteak in Philly, I heard a guy ask for "hots" on his. What exactly are "hots"?

Please be more specific than just telling me they are hot peppers, I would like to buy some so I need a pretty good idea of exactly the type of peppers and shape/relish they are. Thanks!

  1. A cheesesteak customarily comes with green peppers, but I have had one come with red peppers and/or jalepeno peppers before.
