  1. To be honest, you should not be drinking wine... but if you are going to test your limit. Don't drink red wine on a date even if you are eating steak. Red wine turns your teeth purple, so if you going to smile before that kiss good night, best keep to a white wine of some type.

  2. The simplest rule for choosing wine is red for red meat, white for white meat.  White meat includes fish, even though not all fish is white.  I don't really like wine.  Since my mother was Ms. Etiquette, I had to learn these things.  I hope this helps.

  3. Red wine goes with dark trousers and a purple or maroon shirt. They don't show the stain as bad when you throw up.

MAD DOG 20/20 goes with whatever they are serving at

    12th st. kitchen.

  4. The rule of thumb now is drink what you like, what's the point of serving red with meat if you don't like red.

  5. There are reds, whites, and blushes. The reds and whites each have categories from light to full bodied wines (kind of like skim to whole milk). In order from light - full:

    Whites:

Riesling - light, buttery sauce dishes

    Pinot Grigio

    Chardonnay - alfredo sauced dishes

Whites tend to go with chicken and seafood.

    Reds:

Pinot Noir - olive oil/marinara dishes

    Merlot

    Cabernet Sovignon - meat sauce

Reds compliment steak and red meats

Also, the more full the wine is, the more dry the wine will be. But don't be scared away by the dryness! It leaves a pleasant 'coating' on your tongue. Enjoy your foods Italian style!

  6. When in doubt, I have told my friends, there a few wines that are drinkable with nearly everything.

    White...Pick a Piesporter or a Reisling

Red.....Pick a Petit Syrah or a Pinot Noir

Having said that, and assuming you're in a restaurant, there's one sure-fire way to getting a great pairing:

The server who comes to your table, you know...the one relying on your happiness for their income?  Not only are these folks wonderfully trained on how to help you pick just the right wine, but they're generally thrilled to have the opportunity to make sure you get just the right thing.  Even in the mass-market chain restaurants like Applebee's or Olive Garden, if they don't know themselves there's ALWAYS a bartender or manager they can ask and get a good answer.  Trust the server, and you'll rarely be disappointed.

When asking, there is ZERO shame in making clear that you don't want a really expensive wine, since there's always something in the mid-range that's going to go well with your meal.

  7. I agree with the others. The red and white rule is generally upheld by the English. Other countries dont have such a stigma. The French order food and wine according to how well they taste together. The Germans also may order very sweet wines to go with beef, if you use the Reisling as an example. Food is supposed to be fun, which means that you should experiment different flavors with different foods to find what you like best. A true wine snob may not agree with your choice, but a true snob would have ordered something for you anyway.

  8. Boy, that is a matter of opinion and intense debate. But the simplest rule is that white wine generally goes with fish and chicken, and red wine goes with beef. But even this rule can be broken.

  9. Check out the below website they have all sorts of reviews and suggestions.

There are also forums where you can ask questions.

  10. it usually is determined by what you eat,or sometimes what the other party wants to enjoy,or partake of,in the end you will both be satisfied.

  11. "Red with meat, white with chicken or fish."  But that is BS...drink what you like with whatever you are eating.
