  1. It will expand into a red giant, consuming Mercury, Venus and possibly the Earth too, and when the fusion reactions stop it will blow off most of its matter into a nebula and what all that will remain will be a small dense star called a white dwarf.

  2. It will engulf all planets up to and probably including earth but not for about 5-7 billion years so don't worry. Check it out on  NASA or go to Ask  An Astrobiologist. Lots of info there.

  3. The first answerer was on the right track, but the sun won't die in thousands of years. It will be at least 5 billion years. But life on Earth would be wiped out well before the sun dies out. If not through natural extinction, or we moved to a different planet, it will be because the sun is set to swell to the size of a red giant twice. First time it eats Mercury and Venus and wiped out the atmosphere on Earth, and kills all life. Second time it eats Earth too.  Then it burns out... then nothing is going to be alive for sure!

  4. Earth will have no life, but don't worry, that will be thousands of years from now! And even if it does earlier, I still think another hot star will replace it!
