  2. i hope ot because mom is preening her 5 month old tiel.just kidding.that is a sign that they are def. bonded in some way which is good,if you have a male and female and want them to mate put a nest box there and spray them down a little ad soft foods once in a while,these are thigs thaat promote mating,also putting a liitl bird bath in the cage is perfect,preening is both friendly and can be a mating ritual,if you hear the male shouting at the female and jumping at it that means they're going to mate.good luck

    No, it just means that they are bonded. Actually, preening is not exclusive between bird and bird, birds sometimes try to preen dogs, people, and some cats. Basically anything that they think is a friend to them.
