Recently I read how the people in Cuba were being evacuated due to hurricane Gustav, but they're not allowed to leave the country and the hurricane was bigger than the country, so where does that leave people to evacuate to?

  1. to a shelter more inland and more stable than there homes. Like schools or churches or shelters.

  2. they go as far inland as they can, away from the coast where surges can trap, drown and kill people.

  3. Only the western part of the island got the worst of it, but the eastern side is intact.

  4. shelters in safe areas

  5. They are allowed to leave the country.. just not to the US. They probably travel to Mexico or another island or even Venezuela who they have good ties with.

  6. Although Gustav affected much of Cuba, people only evacuated from the hardest-hit western portion of the country.  Thus, they were able to evacuate to eastern Cuba which experienced only tropical storm conditions.

  7. well cuba is tough

    CUBA LIBRE!!!!!

  8. They have special shelters. But the hurricane almost never hits hard in its whole area. Just in the middle, so it is almost never as big as cuba itself.  Unless it goes straight across. The shelters they have are well built
