The nearest beach resorts seem to be in the Maritimes, and that's not all that close.

  1. There is also a beach in Parc des Ilse as well as the Parc Jean Drapeau Beach. There are also many located within an hour or so drive by car/bus.

  2. I did a little research for you. There is a website for Canadian information: wikitravel.org/en/special:search.

This has beaches listed so you can find where the beaches are located and how to get there. Montreal has an artificial beach around a huge pool made for the Olympics games that were there. Parc Jean-Drapeau.

    Hope this helps.

  3. If Montrealers want to go to a beach next to an ocean, then yes, the Maritimes are the closest place we can go, or down south to Maine or New Hampshire.

However, lakes around Montreal also have beaches for swimming and water sports. For example, Oka Beach is 40 minutes from Montreal, situated on the shores of Lake of Two Mountains.

If you don't want to go that far, there are artificial beaches that were added to Ste. Helene Island in the St. Laurence River, for the water park at La Ronde (Six Flags).

Charon Island (where Parc des Iles is situated) just off the east end of the island has white sand beaches alongside a man made canal and artificial ponds designed for summer recreation.

Those are just a few ideas of some places available, along with municipal pools and even park water fountains.
