When people get hanged by the neck, why does their neck stretch and their tongue hang out?

I saw this hot chick getting hanged by the neck in public and I thought it was fascinating. I'm glad my neck isn't being stretched in public

  1. there is pressure applied on the tongue from the ligature and also because of the venous blood pooling in the part above the ligature there is some degree of swelling of the tongue.

  3. Their neck shouldn't stretch. When you're hanged, the rope crushes the bones in your neck - immediate death. The tongue is just a reflex, I think.
