  1. You don't need to go raw (uncooked meats) if it bothers you..If you do go raw you have to switch her at intervals..If your dog has allergies or itchy skin, switching to human food will help tremendously..everyone I know personally has switched to human food ( cooked.) None of the dogs have allergies or itchy skin, bumps or rashes any more.

We use a mixture of 1/2 portion of cooked meat(no bones)

1/4 mixture of brown rice (never white rice) and 1/4 portion of cooked vegetables( green beans, squash, zucchini, spinach, peas)

Any or all of the vegetables together if you choose.. Never give dogs corn, grapes or breads.

    Here is my recipe

1 pkg of thighs( about 10 to 12)

    2cups of brown rice cooked

2 cups of any vegetable mentioned or a mixture of them

cook meat in water until just done.remove from water and let cool..peel off meat and chop or tear into bite size pieces.

cook rice and vegetables together..use enough water that rice recipe calls for plus 1/4 cup

mix all ingredients together and then scoop out enough to feed her for three days..i place all this in a ziplock baggies and freeze them as meat should not be left in fridge for more than 3 days..this is usually enough for a week and a half  for a 30 to 40 lbs dog.you can feed your dog once or twice a day..Feeding them human food is cheaper, and because they will absorb more nutrients, they p**p less and less often.

If you do stay with kibble please feed your dog a brand that is Holistic..It contains no corn, glutens,or wheat.Below is a list of good dog food brands,,gl ..also for treats we give our dogs baby carrotts..they love them and all our dogs are soo healthy.

Also for a healthy shine to coat  and help releave dry skin we use olive oil on food twice a week..1/4 tsp..

  2. My (ten year old) dog had quit eating, had infected gums, joint problems, very bad gas and terrible rashes- her vet started to give her shots which eased her discomfort, but only temporarily.  There was talk of "putting her down."

With nothing to lose, I read a lot about the raw food diet.  I started her on just raw organic chicken (with the bones- they only splinter when cooked) then added some organic eggs, nutritional yeast, organ meat and a "green vitamin powder."

She gained weight almost instantly, her teeth and gums improved, her coat got really shiny, and (finally) her skin cleared up.  That was three years ago.

A great book to read is "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats" by Dr. Pitcairn.

  3. It's called the BARF diet (Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods). It consists of raw meaty bones, pureed fruits and veggies, and small amounts of dairy(mainly plain yogurt and cottage cheese).

Heres a good site. Just so you know, you have to scroll down to get to the raw food section.

Heres a site called BARF world

Never feed anything ground up though

  4. Humans won't even eat all kinds of meat raw because there are so many diseases out there.  By cooking your meat, it will eliminate the diseases.  I suggest that you feed your dog cooked meat.
