Question:

When people say "Don't get hit" on Boxing, Is this the best or worst advice?

On one side its good since well, not getting hit helps a lot in boxing, on another it sucks because its not exactly the easiest thing to do when going against an experienced boxer.

  1. thats the best advice u could get thats the name of the game hit and dont be hit if u think about it ull try to evade punches but dont think about it to much or u wont be able to hit the best way to fowlow that advice is counter punching good counter punchers hit alot and get hit veary little


  2. In a general sense, "Don't get hit" really means "Don't get hit too often or too hard."  If you are a boxer, you WILL get hit.

  3. its good advice but you will get hit sometimes you just need to work on not getting hit. it's kinda like a zen exercise in a way. you practice the impossible to get the best results that you can humanly get

  4. Well its used as a reminder, to try and keep you on your game plan! Because isnticnct of a man is to go stand toe to toe once they get hit or get called out by the opponent.

    Better advice would be, "stick and move" or " hit and dont get hit"

  5. The Best and Worst Advice.

    Best advice when a fighter is losing and the trainer can tell that with the next punch is out. Then yeah, say, "dont get hit and we can get you rejuvanated for round 7. Just dont get hit in round 6".

    Worst advice because it makes the fighter start to doubt himself. Like "why did my trainer say that, is it because he thinks I have a weak chin. d**n, im about to get knocked out". In return, you have a scared fighter, who all he can remember is, "Dont get hit".

  6. The above answers are very good. also, it may be a reference to a boxer's style or strengths & weaknesses. If your trainer wants you to stick & move or do your business and then get out of the zone, then "don't get hit" may send a message. Also, the other messages from the prior contributors.

  7. thats horrible advice lol  , there is no need to say that , thats what the pain receptors in the body is for.  

    good advice would be , remember your breathing , because you get nervous. Or keep them hands up , because u get tired u tend to drop em and need a reminder.  And Foot work , because u need to remember to stay light on your feet and not get flat footed , or ur gunna eat leather.
