Corporations are viewed as seperate entities or an individual if you will so if Obama wants to tax the wealthiest individuals does he mean corporations?

  1. No.  Corporations are not "individuals" and are not taxed as individuals.

Mr Obama has proposed windfall profits taxes on some corporations as well as penalty taxes on corporations that export jobs from the US, along with tax credits and reductions for good corporate citizens who keep or create jobs here in the US.

He further proposes allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire which would raise taxes for the wealthiest taxpayers, along with tax REDUCTIONS for the middle class.  If you earn less than about $225,000 per year your tax bill would drop under his proposed tax plan.  If you earn more than that, your taxes would probably increase, and if you earned a lot more than that, they could increase significantly.

When evaluating a candidate's position on any issue, you have to research it independently, not take the sound bites from the talking heads on TV or the noise-makers on talk radio (on BOTH sides of the political spectrum) as being gospel.  Many of those folks have ulterior motives other than the truth and therefore cannot be trusted on their own.

Some on the far right claim that Senator Obama would raise taxes on the working class.  This is NOT true unless you consider $250k per year as "working class."  (On balance, he hasn't come out with meaningful numbers that can be independently evaluated.  Hopefully he will as the campaign proceeds.)

And some on the far left claim that McCain would do nothing in regards to the healthcare crisis in America.  This isn't true either as he has proposed tax credits that may make health insurance more affordable for many taxpayers.  (On balance, he hasn't stated if these credits would be refundable.  If they are not, their value would be severely limited for many Americans.  Nor has he addressed the plight of the chronically uninsurable who have already used the typical lifetime caps included in most private health insurance plans.  Hopefully Senator McCain will expand on those positions as the campaign develops.)

  2. Wealthy individuals are already taxed to the hilt. Raising corporate taxes will simply raise prices. Then who pays?
