  2. Before college you're really only exposed to a few sets of ideas: those of your family, your local schools, and maybe some other organizations like your church. In college you meet people from all walks of life, and are introduced to ideas (many crazy) about everything. Because of your exposure to new ideas, and because of the rigorous training of your mind that college provides through learning, many people say they grow up.

  3. Many people go away to college. There are no parents. No adults telling them what to do; what to eat, when to study, what to buy, who their friends should be. The learn to become. independent

University: "You know the basics now. Here is an idea. What do YOU think?"

Society tolerates your indiscretions in such an Institution more than at any other time in your life; indeed since people in authority usually did this themselves, they understand from first hand the need to forgive "youthful high spirits" among scholars.

The Educational Institution you attend has been set up explicitly to create a special space where you can get all the h**l out of your system, and find you boundaries safely. You only really need to get so drunk that you vomit, once. This should teach you how much alcohol you can take, and how bad you feel the next day. It will also let you do this as often as you can afford it, or until you learn how bad an idea it is.
