When people start to age, do they begin to have childhood dreams again?

When I was a boy, there were caves in the mountains behind our house. My friends and I explored them alot. It triggered recurring dreams about wandering through fascinating cave chambers alive with very strange and scary stuff.

A week ago, at age 54, I had that exact same dream again.

Just last night I had another boyhood recurring dream. As kids we rode the rapids on the river in the canyon for miles. The dream is better than the reality and seems to go on for hours riding that river all the way to the ocean.

Is this an anomaly, or can I look forward to vivid realistic dreams from now on?

I can't wait for the falling dream. That was way cool!

  1. As we age (and about the age you and I are now), we have fewer and lighter responsibilities in life. Even though most of us are still working, our children are grown, our houses are mostly paid for, etc. Our dreams through our teens, twenties, thirties and forties have been consumed with confusion, stress, decision making and other needful stuff. Now, though, we can have more relaxing dreams. What better dreams that those of your childhood. These dreams were carefree and usually without stress (even if some were nightmares). So yes, it is common to have childhood dreams of actually occurrences or actual dreams. Happy dreaming!
