When people were beheaded, could they really "see the basket coming up at them"?

It's really, really a morbid question, but I've always wondered about it.

I would pray that the answer to your question is "no".  Hopefully the poor person lost consiousness when the blade came down upon them.

According to medical science a person may remain conscious for up to eight seconds after being beheaded. After this the brain will start to shut down due to lack of oxygen. If this is true then probably they could.

I can't tell you that it is absolutely true of course.

No one can test and confirm something like this.

Actually i think a person could stay alive up to 30 seconds... stay alive as in stay conscious after being beheaded.

Man, what a way to go! :(

I would think a person would go into complete shock and not know much....
