When planting corn, does it help to soak it in water overnight?

I see very little difference. But most corn is treated so I don't to wash off the chemicles.

It's what the old timer did...My grandpa.

As long as you aren't putting the corn in a corn planter behind a tractor to use in the fields.  For the garden only.  It germinates faster they believed.
