Or does it come as a surprise to them, as it does to us (Jokinen? Umberger? Really?)

  1. It depends, in some cases they do.

Jokinen and Tanguay were told earlier in the week they would be moved.  Umberger's agent found out shortly before it was announced this evening.

  2. well when hal gill was traded his wife found out on the radio and he was taking a nap.  ha ha i think that really isnt fair to him i mean you cant tell me his agent didnt know about this

  3. No mam! THEY find out as we do. Its a business, and teams will do what they feel is best not only for this year.. but the future also. I am sure that UMBERGER had an idea he might be traded... just not right then! Jokinen also knew he was on the block... but did not have a clue to who it might be or on what day.

  4. No, they find out when we do.

  5. most of the time yeah it's surprise, and sometimes they know that the time is coming. it's funny when things like the gill one happen and they get called up. it's even funnier when there's actual cameras near the players and they're just getting the call in from their agents/family who hear it on the radio or see it on tv first (belak). some hockey players watch it all on tv and find out the same way we all do, by paying attention.
