  1. Offer them a better deal than their rivals, and wait for the waiver to expire, that's what I would do.


  2. they could claim them and not make a trade the player and they take them off waivers

  3. Only way it can be stopped is if your team is lower in the standings than your rivals at the time the player is put on waivers  - then you get to claim the player before they can. Once the claim is made, you have 48 hours to make a deal or the team that waived the player initially can pull him back. If your team passes on the player, you have no say in where he may wind up.

  4. The only way they can is if your team is furthur up the list than the rival. They just claim him off waivers, & hope & pray that the team dosent just want a salary dump because then even if you dont want the guy you just might get stuck with him.

  5. Place a claim on him. The sox did this with brian giles to protect him from the rays.
