  1. here is how i play 56 cards (including the jokers there should be four) jokers can be anything and twos can be anything but an ace

  2. 52

  3. Start with the standard 52 card deck (remove jokers)deal all cards to each player face down until all are gone. The # of cards dealt to each person relates to the # of players. So if there are only two players each player gets 26 cards. Each players lays down one card in turn, the higher card wins the set. That is the best way I can think to describe it. Tie cards mean the players must go to war, the version we play states that the players must each lay down three cards face down and one face up, the higher face up card wins. If that too is a tie, then the face down cards are turned over and the total points are added up to see who has more (without the first two tied cards). The highest total wins the whole lot of played cards. Good luck and have fun!

  4. 52 but sometimes I play with 54.  I use the 2 jokers as Ace beaters since nothing but a war will win you an Ace.
