When playing monopoly, what rules do you play by?

all extra money goes to free parking and landing on go gives you double? or the "real rules" where neither of those options are allowed?

There are two types of Monopoly.  In the standard game made by Parker, the rules state that Free Parking is just that.  No money is put in the center of the board.

Other manufacturers have different rules where you put money in the center and get it when you land on the "Free Parking" space.

In other words, we always play by the rules of the game we are playing.

start with a 500 in the middle and all money that is not rent, buildings or property purchases go in there. land on free parking get the money then the bank puts another 500 in.  also crazy deals between players as long as it is one of their turns. also i ignore the mortgage rule and sell the property bank to the bank at full price when needed. i take the property taxes cards out as well. and if there is only a few people playing (ie 2 or 3) then i play that each player has 2 tokens to play so that the game is more interesting cause it seems like more people are playing and after the game is going strong we combine our 2 guys into one super player.

We play all of that. We put $500 in the middle to start and any extra taxes or get out of jail money goes in the middle. Whoever lands on it wins.  Then, another $500 is put in the middle, etc. We also play with the rule that if you land on go you get double the money. I think with having more money out there it makes the game more enjoyable. (and longer lol)

I play with just the free parking cash pool. I've never heard of the landing on go rule since it clearly states you collect after you PASS go.

THAN I PUT $500.00 IN THE MIDDLE EVERY TIME

Well, I think pretty much everyone likes to start the game with $500 in Free Parking and I've played the double Go Bonus...I happen to like playing by the real rules - it keeps the money tighter in the game, makes for a shorter game, and doesn't reward pure luck.  

I think we've all played Monopoly where someone keeps hitting Free Parking and rakes in the cash even though they didn't have much else going on in the game.  I don't find it too much fun when luck rules...
