Example: you're hitting striped balls, and you hit your last striped ball in and the black ball in one shot. Is that allowed?

  1. If I remember right, you lose.

  2. Pool halls, pubs, clubs, well different houses has got different rules. But in world 8 ball tournament standard rules, it's a foul. The black or 8 ball must be potted individually as your last or game ball to win the game.

  3. If the 8 ball goes in the pocket it is loss of game.  The 8 ball has to be a separate shot to win the game.  If it just touches the 8 ball and it doesn't go in a pocket that is fine.

  4. As long as the 8 ball follows your other ball in, otherwise your opponent wins. The 8 is always the LAST ball to go in.

  5. You can do anything you want... it's a free country, ain't it?

If the object is to win the game, that might be a different story.

Did you call the 8-ball? (please quit calling it the black ball)

Did you hit your object ball first?

If your opponent doesn't agree with you, is he bigger than you? Does he have a lot of friends hanging around?

Do you have money on the game?

    If not, who cares?

  6. as i said couple days ago when this was asked

the 8 ball must be a independent called shot.  it doesn't sound as if u did either so it would be a loss. as always odd house rules are abundant,  that is why i always go through and try and prediscuss such things as ball in hand verse in the kitchen and 8 on the break ... the common things that are different if anything comes up doing the game its a gentleman's agreement or bartenders judgment

  7. tournament rules say no, so don't try it. It's always good to let the person your playing help you make house rules so it's not one sided. If the two of you decide the 8 is a neutral ball then maybe that is OK.

  8. yes.

  9. No, The eight ball must be called and made on it's own. If you make the 8 ball while shooting at any other ball you lose ,no matter which ball goes in first. If there are any rules that state otherwise they are wrong and not worth playing under.

  10. In most organized tournaments, no.  As far as individual house rules, which vary from place to place it may be allowed in a particular establishment.  I have played in places where it is allowed.  In those instances, you must 1.  Call the shot.  2.  contact you're ball first, before the 8.  3.  Your last ball must go in prior to the 8 falling.

so for example the 8 is sitting in a corner pocket, you shoot your last ball into the adjacent corner, then draw the cue ball over into the 8 dropping it, that would be considered a win if you called it.

example 2, the 8 is wedged into a corner pocket with your last ball, you call both with your ball first.  You shoot, hit your ball first, yours goes in and then the 8, you still win.

example 3, same as 2, but the 8 falls first, you lose.

example 4 same as 2 but you strike the 8 first, you lose

  11. The eight ball must be made in a clean shot.  If you make both on the same shot you loose.  Unless you are playing with some weired house rules.  But in all traditional play you loose.
