When playing pool do you have a preference for stripes or solids?

you have to go by how the balls ended up on the table, it doesnt make sense picking stripes if they are all stacked up in the middle, right?!

Position is the main thing in pool.

I never made a choice because of the type of ball.

Nope. Just take the ones that offer you the best chance of winning. Choosing based on the type is something that amatuers will do because they feel that they either shoot one kind in better than the other or they 'think' that they have a better aim point on stripes because there are more markings on the balls.

i prefer solids (now). my hubby always manages to get stripes so if by chance i get stripes i am totaly confused and have to keep asking wich i am

Honestly, that seems like a very odd question. I prefer the ones that looks like I can make the most in without missing.

statistiacally...pardon spelling...it is easier to shoot stripes than solids...with 40 years of exsperiance and 6 trophies...i know...i am also a member of the APA(American Poolplayers Association)

Not really... but I always look at stripes first.

Took a little survey for one whole session a few years ago. The six players on our team chose stripes 64% of the time. And on runouts from the break it was 25% as opposed to 18% on solids.

Kinda weird, but that's the way it worked out.

I don't really mind stripes or solids.  If it's Reds or Yellows, I prefer the Yellows as they are a bit easier to see against the baize.
