When politicians start out a speech with "MY FRIENDS" does that mean anything?

  1. Its a sign they are about to try to swindle you somehow or lie to you.  So to do that, they try to make you put your guard down by implying they are your friend.  On the other hand, a politician that comes and says...."my fellow americans" or just comes out and starts talking shows that they are being straight forward with you and it means you can trust them a bit more than the guy who says "my friends".

  3. It is just a way of addressing people, kind of like Michelle Obama saying 'you see'  all throughout her speech. you see?
