  1. if you use regualr distilled water it does not need to be boiled. tap water does. bottle water as in disani and those types of water shouldn't ever be used as they have minerals that can be harmful for babies

  2. i've always used tap water. my son is 6 months. 19lbs and 28in and healthy!

i live in NJ, if that matters

  3. I've heard not to especially if the kettle may contain lead!

I use Poland Springs water for every bottle, I know some people use tap water, but I thought babies weren't suppose to have flouride under 1 year?

This is all so confusing, and everyone always has their opinions...

  4. i use only bottled water. i use it all the time and he is healthy as can be. and i dont even use the same brand of water everythime. just whatever i buy. i would think tap water wouldnt be to good for them, to much chlorine.

  5. I use bottled water or Nursery Water (sold by the gallon at walmart, target, kmart, grocery stores....) Nursery Water is made especially for babies so I tend to go with that but either way works.

  6. you aren't supposed to use bottled water as the mineral content is different than tap water, and formula is meant to be used with tap water.  the formula you get in England is meant to be used with boiled tap water, but only boiled once, not twice. I believe in America people just use warm tap water, but I've only learned that from reading on here.

However more important is to follow the directions on your formula tin.

  7. I used nursery water until my daughter was about 6 months, then switched to boiled tap water. When she turned a year old she got plain tap water.

Just make sure you recycle those empty water bottles! They are clogging up the landfills and take over a 100 years to break down.

  8. My doctor said you have to use sterile water for formula which means either boiling water or you can buy the stuff at the pharmacy if you live in Canada or the US.. you can ask the pharmacist for it.  The name escapes me at the moment...It's called Distilled Water

  9. you can buy gallons of nursery water..they sell it everywhere..its so easy..

  10. Unless you live in a town where the water is considered unsafe and that you must boil the water before you can drink it then no its not necessary. both my kids had tap water heated in the microwave and they are perfectly healthy!!!!!

  11. I didn't but I know some people do boil even their bottled water. My doctor told me that I should boil bottled water when visiting certain countries.

And bottled water usually has fluoride too because it is usually reprocessed tap water. And you also have contaminants from the plastic bottle it is housed in. There are so many things to think about now a days.

I know of one company that delivers water in glass and has stainless steal water coolers(rather than the ones filled with plastic). Also the fluoride content of their water is the smallest you will find in any bottled water source. I will try and post their info later.

  12. my doc said to boil any water until after tetanus shot....

  13. my mom used to boil the water for us so i grew up with this habit . even thought  millions of people told me millions of times tap water is fine and way better than the water the sell (or almost the same) i still boil her water . she is 15 months now and about a month ago i started using our water we use for her . i dont know why but i can t break the habit .

  14. Bottled water is safe to use when preparing formula. The formula contains all the nutrients necessary for the baby, so what is or is not in the water, from a mineral, vitamin standpoint, is not important.

Bottled water will give you the added security of knowing you are serving a safe water, free of toxins that may be in home water due to old pipes, or a poor water treatment facility or ground-water contaminants from a well.

You can save the expense of using bottled water if you have your tap water tested and find it is perfectly safe for baby. Check your yellow pages under water analysis to find a local company that will perform a test of your water.

Bottled water is not fluoridated so if you continue to give your baby bottled water even after weaning, then you may want to speak with your pediatrician about fluoride supplements.

  15. I use tap water! I even asked 2 different pediatricians to make sure..because I felt kinda bad giving it to my 4 month old. But they said its perfectly fine! I mean I dont like drinking it so I didnt want to give it to him. But actually he likes the tap water better. Its weird.  We were on vacation and brought the nursey galloons of water because i didnt know about their tap water..well anyway he kept throwing it up. So I stick with tap water.  Or if I need to make a bottle when I am out and about..I bring bottled water and just use that.
