Our box-springs are at least 10 years old (maybe closer to 15).

  1. I have had several beds over my life time of 60+ years, Water beds to foam beds.  I that I really don't need a Box Spring.  I don't believe it is necessity.  Choice is yours.  Get the Mattress and if need Box add later.

  2. unless it is broken, making noise, or sagging i don't think so.  My box springs are really old.  We have a king size bed and actually we have 2 twin box springs underneath.  That's how old it is, they used to always use those.  But our king matress is new and fits.
