When reading a medical study, what does this mean regarding results?

that the average result (expected value) is .60, and that there is a 95% likelihood that the result will fall between .41 and .88...  in math and science, a 95% confidence interval is the most commonly used value.  other confidence intervals which are generally used are 99% and 67%.
